The Great Disney Getaway

We made it back alive from our Disneyland trip. We were driving 5 out of the 9 days so we were glad to be home finally. Overall the trip was fantastic and the kids all had a good time I think.
We stopped in St. George at a hotel where Kahlan lost her first tooth! Good thing the tooth fairy always knows where you are. ;) We stopped for a minute outside the St. George temple.
We stayed at the Best Western just off Disney Blvd. It was about a mile walk to the gates of the park but we got to walk through Downtown Disney which is kind of cool. There was a band playing there the first night and the girls were very entertaining with their energetic dancing.
Day 1 was awesome but exhausting. Sarah got 31,000 steps! We went on a lot of the big rides using fast passes and met several princesses. The girls loved that! We also attended a really funny Beauty and the Beast play. Kahlan loved the Matterhorn the best. We also stayed late to see the Fantasmic show on the water.
Day 2 we went to California Adventures. We went on the ferris wheel and several carnival rides. I think the Cars racing ride was the best. In the afternoon the girls met the Frozen characters. We also attended the big Frozen show. It was really well done and the girls loved it but Paul was a little noisy. He yelled 'doggie' when Sven came on stage.
Day 3 we were back at Disneyland. We started with It's a Small World. Then we got to see a bunch of the characters in Toon Town and Paul loved that. We met up with Alicia, Mike, Emily and Jeremy after lunch. We went to the Tiki room with them and also explored Tom Sawyer's Island together. Then we hit the train and all the fairyland rides before going to Goofey's Kitchen. This was at a Disney hotel. The food was good and the kids had a blast having all the characters visit our table, especially Juni! The price was a little steep but worth it. After that, we had to say goodbye.
The weather was great each day and the crowds weren't bad. The Disneyland app made the experience so much better than I ever remember it being... minus the 10,000 potty breaks we had to take.
Tips:
  1. Get the max passes and the app
  2. Ask for free waters at any food place
  3. Bring one meal into the park
  4. Ask for a stroller pass if one adult gets left out of a ride
We drove to Turlock and had a little rest the next day. On Friday we spent a really pleasant afternoon at Caswell park in Ripon with Stephanie and Heather's kids. The weather was remarkably cool there.
Then we had the long ride back to Utah. We stayed at the pancake motel and had a pretty smooth drive back. So glad to be back at our home but miss everyone out in CA!
