Kahlan's Baptism

We're so proud of Kahlan for choosing to be baptized last week! It was a great day! Grandpa Bob and Grandma Ingrid came to visit for the weekend and all the Utah cousins came to the baptism. Four other 8-year-olds from the stake also were baptized and there was a single program.
Kahlan, Juniper and Paul sang 'Be What I Believe' together while Sarah played the piano. We had donuts at the church afterwards for our group. The kids did an amazing job singing. Even Paul sang most of the words.
The kids had a blast with Grandpa Bob and Grandma Ingrid and they took them shopping at the dollar store and to a couple parks.
Saran and I enjoyed another fun bike ride up City Creek Canyon after the baptism. We saw a couple of wild turkeys while up there.
On Thursday this week Sarah and I also decided to tackle Mount Timpanogos again. It had been 6 years and 3 kids since we'd last done it. We had really nice weather and hardly anyone on the mountain. This time we took some hiking poles.

I'd never seen any moose on any of my previous hikes there but this time we had 3 moose encounters! The first was a big bull moose sitting on the trail under a tree. We came around the bend and almost walked right into it. It had no interest in moving so we waited a while from a distance, then climbed up into the bush above the trail and bushwhacked it for a distance until we were clear. Then we saw maybe the same moose on the way down but this time it was a few feet off the trail eating so we scooted past it. The third was another bull even further on the way down and it was in the middle of the trail. It started walking up the trail towards us so we backed up off the trail into a small tree and held still as it walked past us. It didn't seem too interested in us, just gave us a grunt as it went by. It was giant! It was a tough hike and took us 11 hours in total but totally a fun adventure.
Today was our annual corn Saturday. All the kids helped shuck 7 dozen. Then we blanched, cut and bagged them for the freezer.
